About B17

BRIEN MEAGHER & RHETT BACHNER | Founders / Executive Producers

B17 Entertainment was founded by principals Rhett Bachner and Brien Meagher.  After partnering with CORE Media Group in 2013, Bachner and Meagher have since created and launched the comedic format Broke A$$ Game Show, currently in its second season at MTV, Fluffy Breaks Even, the upcoming FUSE series featuring global funny man Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias, as well as several other shows currently in various stages of production. Bachner and Meagher served as producers on ABC’s Emmy-nominated Shark Tank. They also executive produced The Pitch for AMC, Be The Boss for A&E, Real Deal for History, and Supermarket Superstar for Lifetime. In addition, they have developed projects with Snapchat, MTV, Spike, GSN, A&E, Discovery Channel, TNT, Nat Geo Wild, Animal Planet, E! and VH-1.

Prior to B17 Entertainment, Bachner served as Executive Producer on The Henry Rollins Show on IFC, Man Caves on DIY and Co-Executive Producer on Losing It With Jillian Michaels on NBC. Meagher worked as a Development Executive for Mark Burnett Productions, where he was Co-Executive Producer on Shark Tank and Expedition Impossible and also worked on The Apprentice. Bachner and Meagher are represented by CAA.

EMILY MAYER | Senior Vice President
Prior to joining B17, Emily Mayer served as SVP of development for Maverick TV overseeing all unscripted development for the US and selling a broad range of projects including DIY series Big Texas Fix, Food Network’s Kitchen Takeover, and E!’s Reunion Roadtrip. Previously, she ran development at Fishbowl Worldwide Media and NBCUniversal’s Wilshire Studios, where she sold and produced projects for more than two dozen networks. Additionally, she has held executive positions at Fox Television Studios, GRB Entertainment, Alchemy Television Group and 44 Blue Productions, following her start in United Talent Agency’s alternative department. When she isn’t selling shows, she enjoys her job as mom to two kids and two dogs. When she has free time, she paints.

*She hasn’t painted since 2015.
JACKIE HAKIM | VP, Production
Jackie got her start in commercial production, overseeing logistics on hundreds of spots around the world. She transitioned into television as a producer on Sunday Morning Shootout, AMC’s long running series with Peter Guber and Peter Bart. She moved on to produce a number of game shows and specials for networks like GSN, CMT, Discovery, and VH1, including reunion shows for the Basketball Wives and Real Housewives franchises as well as Shark After Dark LIVE. Jackie later joined forces with Brien and Rhett on Shark Tank for ABC and Be The Boss for A&E.  Jackie has produced projects with Academy Award-winning DP's, award winning film directors and has an extensive knowledge of many industry formats including short films, commercials, talk, live, game, docu-follow, and reality. When she manages to find free time, she spends it training canines and, for the right price, humans*.

*Human training available Q1 2016.
STEVEN GARCIA | VP, Current Programming & Development
Steven began producing alongside Rhett and Brien on the set of Shark Tank Season 1. He has produced and directed a variety of projects for the dynamic duo including AMC’s The Pitch, A&E’s Be the Boss, and Lifetime’s Supermarket Superstar. Garcia has produced content for networks such as NBC, ABC, AMC, MTV, CW, Esquire, SyFy, Yahoo!, Discovery Channel and, most recently, National Geographic. Currently, Garcia is in various stages of development on multiple projects for B17 and serves as a Co-Executive Producer on their newest comedic endeavor Fluffy Breaks Even starring America’s favorite funny man Gabriel Iglesias. Steven believes in aliens and really likes tacos*.

*Note: Steven’s love of tacos trumps his love of aliens every time. Hands down.
JEFF THIEME | Development Executive
Jeff brings a broad skillset, as well as a sense of panache and chutzpah, to B17 Entertainment. He cut his teeth on unscripted and competition hits such as Extreme Home Makeover, American Ninja Warrior, Top Shot, and the Ghost Hunters franchise. On any given day, you may find him writing, shooting, producing, editing, or crying in a dimly lit room. In his free time, he can be found at the Venice pier practicing his Crane technique* on ne’er-do-wells.

*While Jeff has a fondness for karate gi’s, he doesn’t actually know karate.
ASHTON COPELAND | Manager of Development
Ashton hails from the entertainment capital of the world: Kentucky. Being from the Bluegrass State, he's required to have an obsession with college basketball (and all forms of sports to be honest). He brings television experience as a producer for the Jim Rome show on CBS Sports, as well as time with global advertising agency BBDO. At B17, you can find him in the throes of all types of development and production.
MALLORY MARSEE | Production Coordinator
A true Midwest girl, Mallory moved to Hollywood with stars in her eyes and a grumbling for Chipotle in her stomach. She has worked on the production end for such shows as Animal Planet’s Finding Bigfoot. At B17, she puts her extensive experience with sasquatches to use on a daily basis as she manages the daily production needs of her hirsute colleagues.
COLIN HARGRAVES | Creative Director
Colin has worked pretty much every job in production and post production. However, despite the fact that he is a classically trained oil painter, his makeup skills leave much to be desired. He began his career working for MTV & VH1, but his “devil may care” attitude soon found him directing, shooting & editing docu-series for National Geographic, History and Discovery channels. He’s worked all over the world with nearly every form of wildlife whether they be human or non-human. As co-executive producer, director and lead editor, Colin was part of the core team responsible for A&E’s breakout mega-hit Duck Dynasty. Alongside his wife, he created, wrote, directed and edited the Monster Survival Guide a radical AF scripted comedy for Nat Geo and was also involved in the popular scripted webseries Lonely Girl 15. Colin has again set his sights on the digital world and is presently the Creative Director of B17’s digital phantom limb, Thumb Candy. When Colin is not telling stories at work, he’s telling kick-ass bedtime stories to his two daughters, fabricating miniatures, podcasting, board gaming & dungeon mastering like a boss. 60% of Colin’s bad show puns are guaranteed* to one day become actual television shows.
